So much as happened in such a short time! Baby Girl graduated boot camp, several phases of tech school and should be starting OJT (on the job training soon). I had the honor of being at graduation and her wing ceremony. I was able to “tack” her wings on her. Seeing how grown up she has become is so amazing. I have never been filled with so much pride.
While I was at BMT (Basic Military graduation), the local humane society called to ask if I was open to rescuing another hard to place pet. Well being on such a high from seeing BMT graduation, why NOT! I adopted my little boy, Oakley. He looks like he is wearing a pair of sunglasses, Oakleys. =) Oakely is a Beagle/ Cattle Dog mix. Whoever did that…. Was a tad crazy! He is just a year old and a rough and tumble boy, with a zest for life that never touches most people. He has enthusiasm that motives me to be better. Sky has become a mom. She helps keep our boy in line, including tackling him when he is sassy or overly barking, grabbing his leash if she sees I am struggling or just teaching him good habit. I have attached a photo of my kids.
Mothers Day was hard with Sam not physically close, yet I received a text...” Love you good night mama. Happy mother’s day to the most supportive and inspiring mother there is.” Does it really get any better than that? It was, Anna and the pups cleaned my truck and got me a beautiful photo frame that I know have the above photo in. they have grown up so fast, to be beautiful women, each so very unique. How did that happen?
With each of these instances, growth is made, new visions are developed, and life’s meaning becomes deeper. Then we had Memorial Day. Each passing year becomes more and more emotional with the meaning to me personally. I was surprised at the number of people who doesn’t know what Memorial Day is for or represents, other than a paid holiday for many. It isn’t always the younger ones. With larger numbers of younger people going into the military they seem to know yet, their parents may not. There seems to be a generation who wasn’t as affected by War, or our world as prior or current generations. Our youth are being heard, they are taking care of things, they are inspiring. I will end today with this:
"Youth is not a time of life - it is a state of mind. It is a temper of the will; a quality of the imagination; a vigor of the emotions; it is a freshness of the deep springs of life. Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over a life of ease... Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people grow old by deserting their ideals."~Samuel Ullman
